A baby play mat stimulates child development. Baby play mat and activity gyms attract your child´s attention and a baby playmat promotes body and mind activities. A playmat also focuses the activities to one region of your floor space instead of wandering out over your whole home.

What is a playmat? In short: it is a removable surface, often textile fabric, that provides comfort, protection from the environment and concentrates child activities to one area. Think of a picnic. The blanket you sit on is comparable to a playmat as a comfortable surface and it provides a localized setting for the gathering. The blanket becomes your “domain” in nature for the gathering. In the same way, a play-mat provides a “room” within the room for your child.

Children need to be allowed play and bustle without too much concern for the floor. A playmat serves as a soft surface for both play activities and rest. The playmat texture provides traction for small feet as well as protection from cold floors. If you have a carpeted floor you are still advised to use a playmat since it is easy to wash. Even if you clean your carpets daily, the longer hair fibers mean they never get fully cleaned. A playmat is easily cleaned in your washing machine.
